You are no longer just coronels, designers! Starting today, you are also POP! artists. What better way to mark your initiation as pop artists than to create 4 distinct Warhol style self-portraits! For this project, you will use the four photographs I took of you earlier this month to create one 4 image composite (please see my example above). You will be referencing http://www.mariaclaudiacortes.com/colors/colors.html to identify complementary color pairs to use in your self portrait. Please follow the directions below as well as the attached tutorial to start your pop portraits.
PART I
PART I
- New PSD doc: 6”x 6,” RGB, 300 resolution, transparent background.
- Open your first picture. Move the picture to the empty document. Resize the picture as needed so that it shows your face and an interesting detail.
- Edit the picture by following the “Simple Pop Art” tutorial. Remember to choose complementary colors for your portrait (see the link, above, to identify complementary color pairs).
- Finish off your portrait by using the Brightness/ Contrast adjustment to make your colors more dramatic. Save your final edit in JPEG format.
- Repeat steps 1-4 for each of the remaining pictures. Save each edited pic in JPEG format.
- New PSD doc: 12”x 12,” RGB, 300 resolution, transparent background.
- Place a vertical guide at 6” and a horizontal guide at 6”
- Place each of the finished portraits inside the quadrants.
- Save your final work in JPEG format and post it to your blog. Directions for your written reflection are pending.
